CCTV - Chambers in decline
The importance of CCTV for ongoing maintenance and leachate compliance has been well documented and many of our Clients use the service on a regular basis. However what has also become apparent from viewing literally thousands of wells is the construction details of wells and how the verticality and integrity of these are affected over a period of time. Across many Clients sites there are generally standard modes of failure noted within the wells. HDPE construction wells do not have any particular depth of failure but they do demonstrate a type of spectacle failure normally associated with insufficient bedding or surround in civil engineering. With regards to concrete ring construction the modes of failure are again, not surprisingly, attributable to large stresses applied to the base causing problems with misalignment and verticality, which over a period of time then creates instability in the overall structure causing complete collapse. Poor construction of leachate chambers is uneconomic and inefficient for the ongoing operation of a commercially sound landfill. Monitoring of these chambers on a regular basis can identify to Clients any unexpected movements or changes to the structural nature of these wells. Please note that as required by the DSEAR Regs all our CCTV equipment is ATEX rated. If you are interested in learning more about our CCTV services, please call.
